Davion Cotterell
Former international Shooting guard Davion Cotterell (SG) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's second-best IRG Astros and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 3.
The shooting guard had the game-high 21 points adding nine rebounds for IRG Astros in his team's victory, helping them to beat Silver Bullets (#5, 1-1) 80-74. IRG Astros maintains the 2nd position in Cayman Islands National League. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and IRG Astros won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. It's Cotterell's second year at IRG Astros and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Cotterell has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (5th best: 19.0ppg) and assists (5th best: 2.5apg).
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was Tarique Simpson of Silver Bullets. Simpson impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 18 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as Silver Bullets lost that game 74-80 to IRG Astros (2-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Simpson is one of the most experienced players at Silver Bullets and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.5ppg (#6). He also registered 12.5 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was Kobe McKenzie (F) of Sol Blazers (#10). McKenzie scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Despite McKenzie's great performance Sol Blazers lost 68-82 to Western Union (#1, 3-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Sol Blazers can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 3 games. McKenzie has individually a great season in Cayman Islands. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 10.7rpg (8th best) and assists with 2.3apg (8th best).
Other top performing players last week:
4. Carson Fagan (G) of Western Union - 7 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Alexander Thompson (PF) of Silver Bullets - 21 points and 3 rebounds
6. Keller Wilson (C) of Western Union - 10 points and 13 rebounds
7. Noel Squire (G) of Western Union - 18 points and 3 rebounds
8. Josh Cotterell (F) of Sol Blazers - 16 points and 6 rebounds
9. Tazmar Dawkins (170-SF) of Silver Bullets - 20 points
10. Bryce Thompson (178-PG) of IRG Astros - 9 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
